A sand-laden bulkhead capsized in the Buriganga River this morning (14 December) after being hit by a passenger launch, according to river police.

The incident occurred around 10am at Fatulla in Narayanganj when the Dhaka-Bhola-bound Bogdadia-13 launch, departing from Sadarghat, collided with the bulkhead in the Fatulla stretch of the river, a river police official said.

Videos circulated on social media show the launch ramming into the bulkhead, which began to sink shortly afterward. Crew members aboard the bulkhead were seen jumping into the river to save themselves.

River police said no casualties were reported in the incident.

An eyewitness, Sheikh Saddam said, "I saw the accident while crossing the river and immediately recorded a video on my mobile phone."
