A fire broke out at a plastic warehouse in the Chairman Ghat area of Islambagh, Lalbagh, in Old Dhaka this afternoon (17 December).

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the blaze originated at approximately 1:30pm. The first responding units reached the scene at 1:50pm.

Currently, a total of nine units are engaged in the firefighting operation. This includes two units each from the Lalbagh, Hazaribagh, and Palashi stations, while three additional units were dispatched from the Siddikbazar Fire Station at the time of filing this report.

As of 2:32pm, firefighting operations are ongoing. While thick smoke has engulfed the surrounding area, no casualties have been reported so far.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be known.
