The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) organised a training workshop titled "Cloud Computing for Industry/Businesses: Driving Digital Transformation and Cyber Security Measures" at its boardroom in Dhaka on Saturday.

Sheesh Haider Chowdhury, NDC, Secretary, Information and Communication Technology Division, attended the event as chief guest, while BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) presided over the session. Rifat Rahman, CEO of Tirjok Private Limited, and Md Khairul Amin, former Director General of the National Digital Security Agency, joined as discussants and trainers.

In his opening remarks, BCI President Parvez said that BCI regularly organises orientation and training workshops on key issues related to industrialisation, foreign trade, and business policy. "In this era of artificial intelligence, technology is evolving rapidly, and our industries must keep pace. Cloud computing is now a major driver of global business efficiency. To remain competitive, Bangladesh's industries must embrace automation, data-driven decision-making, and cloud-based solutions," he said.

He also stressed the growing need for cybersecurity alongside technological advancement, noting that "cyber threats are now a constant risk to businesses, and safeguarding digital assets must be a top priority."

Speaking as chief guest, Sheesh Haider Chowdhury commended BCI for arranging the timely workshop and highlighted the ICT Division's ongoing efforts to enhance national data and cybersecurity. "We are integrating academia, the private sector, and government to identify challenges and design effective laws and policies. The results of these efforts will soon become visible," he said.

He added that government service delivery must become more transparent and people-focused, and assured that the ICT Division would continue extending maximum cooperation to the private sector in advancing digital transformation.

In the technical sessions, Rifat Rahman presented on "Cloud Computing for Industry/Businesses: Driving Digital Transformation", while Md Khairul Amin joined virtually to deliver his talk on "Cyber Security Measures for Industry/Businesses". Both sessions were followed by interactive discussions.

The workshop concluded with participant feedback and certificate distribution by BCI Director Dr Delwar Hossain Raja. BCI Secretary General Dr Md Helal Uddin, NDC, formally thanked the guests and participants, urging continued engagement in future BCI programmes.
