Salman Agha's unbeaten century and Haris Rauf's four-wicket burst powered Pakistan to a narrow six-run win over Sri Lanka in the first of three ODIs in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Agha struck 105 not out off 87 balls, lifting Pakistan from 95–4 to 299–5 after Wanindu Hasaranga's 3–54 had rattled the top order. He shared a 138-run stand with Hussain Talat (62) before finishing strongly alongside Mohammad Nawaz (36 not out).

Despite a suicide attack earlier in the day in nearby Islamabad, which killed at least 12 people, the match went ahead under tightened security.

Chasing 300, Sri Lanka fell short at 293–9 in 50 overs, with Rauf (4–61) dismantling the top order and Naseem Shah (2–55) and Faheem Ashraf (2–49) providing support.

Batting at No.8, Hasaranga led the resistance with a brisk 59, but his dismissal left Sri Lanka needing 21 off the final eight balls, and Pakistan held their nerve to seal victory.

The second ODI will be played at the same venue on Thursday.
