Gold prices in the local market have been raised once again within just 24 hours by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus).

The new hike adds Tk4,188 per bhori, bringing the price of 22-carat gold to Tk2,08,471 per bhori (11.664g).

The revised rates will take effect from Wednesday, according to a Bajus press release issued yesterday (11 November).

Bajus said the latest price adjustment came following a rise in the price of pure (Tejabi) gold in the local market. Taking the overall market situation into account, the association decided to revise the rates accordingly.

Under the new rates:

21-carat gold will cost Tk1,99,000 per bhori

18-carat gold will cost Tk1,70,563 per bhori

Traditional gold will cost Tk1,41,858 per bhori

In addition to the base price, buyers are required to pay a 5% government VAT and a minimum 6% making charge set by Bajus, which may vary depending on the jewellery's design and quality.

On Monday, Bajus had also raised gold prices by Tk2,507 per bhori, setting the 22-carat rate at Tk2,04,283 per bhori—also effective from Wednesday.

With the latest revision, gold prices have been adjusted 75 times so far this year—increased 52 times and reduced 23 times, Bajus data shows.

Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged, with 22-carat silver selling at Tk4,246 per bhori in the local market.
